MOUNTING TECHNIQUES
In mounting Mini exothermic risers, one thing must be remembered. It is vital to leave a transitional pad between the exothermic riser and casting to keep the heat away from the casting surface and to create a break-off pad.
When mounting these mini risers in a squeezer molding process or Hunter machine, a spring thorn is available. The thorn is very simple to use and will create its own beaker pad by using existing sand.
This will allow for easy break-off. Some molding equipment has a limited clearance height that will allow for our spring thorns. For these machines an aluminum button will work. PC Campana Mini exothermic risers have a remarkable compression strength; therefore, an aluminum button with the same outside diameter as the riser lip, about 3/8" to 1/2" thick, mounted to the pattern is needed.
As you can see, these exothermic risers are very durable and versatile; therefore, any problem in mounting may be overcome easily. All of P.C. Campana's foundry supplies and exothermic cutting systems are built around the same principles of excellence and innovation.
